🌙 Half Light WhatsApp Community – FAQ & Guidelines
Welcome to the Half Light community — a reflective, inclusive space for British Muslims exploring identity, belonging, and everything in between. Please read the following FAQ and community guidelines to help you settle in and understand how we work.
🧾 Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Half Light?
Half Light is a third-space community for British Muslims navigating the grey areas between culture, faith, identity, and personal growth. Inspired by the symbolism of twilight, we honour the transitional, the undefined, and the unspoken.
2. How does the WhatsApp community work?
There are two main levels of interaction:
-
HalfLight – Café: Our central WhatsApp space for announcements, introductions, prompts, and updates.
-
Private Groups: Moderated, themed discussion spaces for deeper conversations, created around shared interests or topics.
You’ll begin in HalfLight – CafĂ©. To join a private group, you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire to help us place you in the right space with care.
3. Why do I have to fill out a questionnaire?
To keep our groups safe, respectful, and intentional, we ask members to reflect on a few things before joining discussion spaces. This helps with moderation, topic matching, and ensuring emotional safety for all.
4. Is this space anonymous?
The HalfLight – Café and private groups are not fully anonymous — WhatsApp will display your name and number. However, all groups are moderated, and we foster a culture of confidentiality, respect, and psychological safety. If you are looking for fully anonymous discussion, we may offer other platforms in future.
5. Can I invite others?
Yes — but please only invite those who are genuinely aligned with the values of Half Light. If you’d like to add someone, share the link to the questionnaire or introductory message rather than directly adding them to groups.
6. Is this space for religious debate?
No. While we welcome spiritual exploration and faith-based reflections, this is not a space for doctrinal debate, preaching, or judging others’ levels of religiosity. This is a third space where diverse expressions and experiences are welcome.

❌ Don’t:
-
Do not preach, shame, or correct others’ beliefs or life choices.

🧠Moderation & Safety
All groups are monitored by facilitators who may gently guide discussions, step in if tensions rise, or remove members who violate the space’s safety. Repeated boundary-crossing will result in removal without notice.
🪞 Final Word
Half Light is about exploring what often goes unspoken. It’s a space for reflection, not reaction — for curiosity, not certainty. If you’re here, we trust you to contribute with care, courage, and compassion.
If you have questions, concerns, or feedback, please reach out privately to an admin.
